Genet et Michon
An extremely rare pair of French art deco wall sconces in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. Made around 1930 by the illustrious designers Philippe Gênet and Lucien Michon. Gênet et Michon did not produce this model wall lamp in high quantities. Over the past 30 years I never saw this model shade before and only knew about it from the old 1920s designer magazines with articles on genet et Michon (see last picture). The shades are done in very thick glass. Over 1 cm thick and with a weight of 1,8 kilos per shade. The wall sconces are 14,17 inches (36 cm) long and 4,9 inches (12,5 cm) high. They are 3,15 inches (8 cm) deep. The shades are unsigned. The nickel plated solid-brass mounts are numbered and stamped GM for Genet et Michon. The lamps are is good condition. With the common small chips where the shades face the wall. Normal for 100 years old glassware and invisible with the shades in place. The two shades are slightly different in colour. I re-nickeled the mounts and the fixtures are rewired with two American candelabra base sockets each.
