Created in 2000 and … Read more Handcrafted ceramic vase with gold-leaf accents by noted American artist Mary K. Seyfarth (Chicago, b. 1947). Created in 2000 and titled Ancient Marks, this striking sculptural work features a richly textured matte dark-brown surface adorned with abstract gold markings inspired by ancient scripts and archaeological symbols.

The vase measures approximately 18 inches high by 7 inches in diameter and is signed on the underside with the artist’s red “MKS” monogram. It remains in excellent condition.

More than simply decorative pottery, this piece possesses the presence of a modern sculpture and displays beautifully in both contemporary and traditional interiors. Equally impressive displayed on its own or with dried branches or natural arrangements.

Mary K. Seyfarth studied at the University of Illinois and continues to create significant ceramic works and large-scale sculpture from her Chicago studio. Her work has been exhibited and collected internationally.
