A rare and complete set of twelve sterling silver tea spoons by Watson, each handle fashioned as a full-length standing figure of a United States Military Academy cadet in dress uniform — tall plumed shako, crossed white belts with "US" cartridge box plate, rifle held smartly at the side. The figural modeling runs the full length of the handle rather than being confined to a terminal motif, giving each spoon real sculptural presence in the hand.
The oval bowls are engraved with an architectural scene, adding a second layer of commemorative detail to the set. Stems are stamped STERLING, each spoon measures 6", and the full twelve-piece set weighs 5.389 ozt of sterling silver.
Condition is excellent for age, with a warm, even patina across the full set. Please see the photo gallery for detail of the figural handles, engraved bowls, and hallmarks.
A genuinely scarce find as a complete set of twelve — these figural militaria spoons are far more commonly encountered as singles. A wonderful piece for the collector of American military silver, academy memorabilia, or figural flatware by Watson.
Circa late 19th to early 20th century, American.
