The Moooi Smoke Chairs by Maarten Baas are a bold fusion of classic form and conceptual design. Each chair begins as a traditionally carved wood piece, then undergoes a unique burning process that creates its signature charred texture, later sealed in epoxy for durability and a subtle sheen.
The result is both sculptural and functional, with the familiar curves of antique European seating contrasted by a deeply textured, almost surreal blackened finish. The smooth black leather upholstery and nailhead trim add refinement, balancing the raw character of the frame.
A true conversation piece, this set of three brings an artistic edge to dining or accent seating. Designed by Maarten Baas for Moooi, they embody collectible design that sits at the intersection of craftsmanship and experimentation.
