Original 1975 blind-embossed monoprint titled "Los Altos" from the "Embossed Circle Series" by California artist Vibeke Woodbury. Vibeke Woodbury was a mid-20th-century California artist and printmaker active in the Bay Area, whose work was shown in established regional galleries. She was also a respected teacher, known for mentoring later artists such as Elaine Bartholomew Rothwell.
The 1975 creation date shows this monoprint was executed when Woodbury was at the height of her technical confidence. She had already spent over a decade refining her studio practice and guiding the next generation of California printmakers. Woodbury's work is not common on the secondary market, being a strong example of mid-century fine art, well suited for a private collection, gallery, or curated interior.
Curated from the private collection of Eve Paige Spencer, an enamel artist whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College, California. This scarce Woodbury print reflects the discerning taste she and her husband, writer and art collector Donner Spencer, brought to their collection.
