This is a Mid-Century Modern hand-blown smoked amber glass vase (pattern 8044/28) designed by Czech glassmaker Jan Beránek. It was manufactured by the famous Škrdlovice glassworks in Czechoslovakia, typically dating back to around 1960 or 1980.
The distinctive feature of this heavy, thick-walled cylindrical piece is the organic murine (bubble-like layered glass) detailing gathered at its base. This piece is a study in the simplicity of great design, demonstrating incredibly restraint, a sophisticated color palate and distillation in form. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It is in excellent condition.
