Large sculpture by Louis-Emile Cana (1845-1895), an artist who exhibited at the Universal Exhibition in 1878. A student of Arson, he delivers here a bucolic work, presenting a young girl carrying a basket full of cherries. Dressed in a spring outfit and her soft hair wrapped in a scarf, she is sitting on a stump, barefoot and wearing a slight smile that illuminates her youthful features.
The details of this sculpture and the sweetness that emanates from it illustrate the innocence, beauty and poetry of youth.
