A charming and highly decorative antique millefiori glass vase, crafted by the famous Fratelli Toso workshop on the island of Murano, circa 1910. Featuring a vibrant pattern of fused floral murrine, this vessel represents a classic and wonderfully authentic example of early 20th-century Venetian craftsmanship that remains a timeless, accessible collector's piece.
This delightful millefiori vase is a classic example of early 20th-century Murano glass art, produced by the renowned Fratelli Toso workshop circa 1910.
The vase features a particularly lovely design made composed of vibrant, floral-patterned murrine. To create this traditional motif, the colorful glass canes were meticulously patterned, cut, and arranged on a plate before being fused together. The artisan then picked up the mosaic design with the blowpipe to roll and shape the vessel, leaving a distinct central pontil mark on the base.
While crafted with traditional skill and featuring a very attractive arrangement of blossoms, these specific millefiori vessels were among Murano's most successful designs. Because they were produced in larger numbers to meet high demand for decades, they remain an exceptionally rare combination in today's market: genuine, over a century-old Venetian antique glass that is still highly affordable.
A wonderful, colorful accent piece for any interior and an excellent entry point for emerging art glass enthusiasts.
Fratelli Toso (founded in 1854 by the Toso brothers) was one of the most influential glass factories on the island of Murano. They played a vital role in the revival of traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, becoming especially famous for their mastery and commercial success with complex millefiori and murrine designs. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
