The original label remains visible on the drawer front and is complemented by the original decorative cast metal pull.

Constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints and finished in a rich oak brown stain, this drawer once resided in a pharmacy, druggist shop, or medical dispensary where medicinal herbs, flowers, roots, and botanical ingredients were carefully stored and organized. Tansy was a commonly stocked herb in nineteenth-century pharmacies and household medicine cabinets, valued for its use in traditional herbal preparations and practical household applications.

This antique drawer was acquired from an old shop in Connecticut. Based on the dovetail construction, original painted Latin pharmaceutical label, and period hardware, we estimate it was manufactured between approximately 1880 and 1910. It retains the authentic wear and character expected from more than a century of use.

Today this piece makes a wonderful decorative accent for farmhouse, primitive, industrial, cottage, or general store-inspired interiors. It displays beautifully on an open shelf, kitchen hutch, library bookcase, office desk, or within a collection of apothecary and medical antiques. It may also be used for storing recipe cards, keepsakes, collections, craft supplies, or other small household items.

Condition Summary:
This is an authentic antique drawer showing expected wear from age and use. The original painted label remains visible though softened by time. The original decorative pull is intact. There is surface wear, finish loss, scratches, staining, edge wear, and age-related imperfections consistent with a working pharmacy drawer.
