This striking example features a beautifully shaped crescent-form emerald green cut glass body with finely cut hobstars, fans and geometric decoration. The elegant silver-plated mount incorporates the firm's ingenious patented lifting mechanism, whereby the two hinged lids rise simultaneously via chains when the handle is lifted, revealing the interior.
Both practical and sculptural, this is one of the more unusual biscuit barrels produced during the period and is considerably less common than standard cylindrical examples. The rich emerald green glass contrasts beautifully with the polished silver-plated mount, making it an impressive display piece whether used as intended or simply as a decorative centrepiece.
Ideal for an Art Deco or Edwardian interior, it also makes a wonderful wedding gift, dining table centrepiece or collector's cabinet piece.

The base is stamped with the James Deakin & Sons mark.

The emerald green glass is free from chips, cracks and repairs. The silver-plated mounts retain an attractive finish with only light age-related wear consistent with careful use. The patented lifting mechanism operates smoothly and correctly.
