Traditionally handcrafted from native Scandinavian woods—ash in this example—these boxes were constructed using thin steam-bent wooden panels secured with small wooden pegs, a technique deeply rooted in Nordic folk craftsmanship. The tradition is closely associated with the Sámi people, the Indigenous population of northern Scandinavia, who historically used such containers for storing and transporting personal belongings while traveling.

This example displays a beautifully aged surface with a deep, rich patina developed through decades of use. The visible wear and subtle imperfections enhance its authenticity and character, highlighting the handmade nature of the piece.
