the complete service includes 6 soup plates, 12 dinner plates (the dinner plates are twice as large as the soup plates because, in those days, cheese and vegetables were served separately as second courses), 6 dessert plates, 1 serving platter, and 1 soup tureen. The service is part of the germogli collection, so named by the designer for the bamboo shoots in the decorations. The dinnerware set has never been used because it was found in the warehouse of a long-closed shop. The condition is excellent, but over time, some pieces have developed a slight craquelure in some areas. This term, used in ceramics, refers to the inevitable formation of cracks or small lines that appear between the glaze and the terracotta over time. These cracks are imperceptible to the touch and do not indicate breakage or a functional defect, but are the natural consequence of the difference in thermal expansion between the terracotta body and the vitreous glaze that covers it. The dinnerware set will be carefully packaged and shipped in a wooden crate.
