Striking and wry home decor accent piece by the renown designer Harry Allen (Moss interior NYC).
The Reality line consists of designed objects whose form is "sampled" from real life. Harry Allen's process has always celebrated the inherent beauty of real world things, animate and inanimate. Using a technique that involves casting polyester resin in highly detailed silicone molds, he achieves a representation with precision. The pieces are challenging yet familiar, serious yet amusing.
The Reality version of the classic piggy bank takes its form from a real pig that reminds us of our animal companions, and our need to protect them, even as we save the coinage of our economy. Perhaps a potent though ironic depository for funds to prevent animal cruelty?
