This vintage Indian jug has been thoughtfully converted into a distinctive table lamp, retaining the character and surface depth of the original vessel. The rounded, globular body sits on a subtle foot and rises to a short, flared neck, now fitted with a brass socket and circular mounting plate.
The surface displays a dark, richly patinated ground with visible age texture and tonal variation. Hand-painted script in warm golden tones encircles the shoulder, creating strong visual contrast against the darker body. The calligraphic decoration gives the piece a graphic, almost architectural presence, making it as sculptural as it is functional.
The lamp is fitted with a brass-tone socket and a brown cord. Its substantial 13.5-inch diameter gives it weight and stability, making it well suited for a console, side table, or study. The scale and patina work particularly well in eclectic, bohemian, or globally inspired interiors.
