The painting is signed J. Bonny in the distinct style of John Bonny (1874-1948). This artist’s works are usually signed with a stylized "J Bonny" featuring a cursive, elongated "J" that hooks gracefully underneath the "B" in his last name.
This artist is best known for his idyllic oil and watercolor scenes depicting the countryside, villages, and waterways of England, specifically painting the same regions of the Suffolk countryside made famous by John Constable, such as scenes along the River Stour and Flatford Mill.
