The pencil drawing of two horses in the custom step-down cutout of the matting is called a remarque. Weirs hand-drew these small, original sketches in the margins of only a select few prints within a limited edition. This means no two remarqued prints are exactly alike, adding an original touch of the artist's work directly to the piece. Faintly visible in pencil just above the horse sketch is the hand-written edition number: 514/1200. While the standard signed and numbered release consisted of 1,200 standard prints, this piece is from an elite tier of only 100 remarqued copies. See less
