Antique Rope Twist Turned Cherry Pedestal Stand, Circa 1890-1910
A striking antique pedestal in cherry, featuring a boldly carved rope twist column, likely American-made circa 1890-1910. The dramatic spiral turning runs the full height of the shaft, rising from a stepped square base to a square platform top — a strong sculptural form that works equally well displaying a bust, urn, plant, or decorative object.
The rope twist motif was a hallmark of Victorian and Aesthetic Movement furniture, and this example shows crisp, well-executed carving throughout.
