Published in 1924 in Alexandre M. Raymond's influential folio *L'Art Islamique en Orient – IIe Partie*, the print records the famous portal and twin minarets that have become an enduring symbol of medieval Islamic architecture. The composition presents the magnificent entrance elevation with its soaring paired minarets rising above an elaborately carved portal. The richly decorated entrance features geometric stone carving, arabesque ornament, Quranic inscriptions, and a dramatic muqarnas vault, while the slender brick minarets display intricate patterned masonry and decorative bands. The architectural design exemplifies the remarkable sophistication achieved by Seljuk builders during the early thirteenth century. Constructed in 1208, the Gök Medrese stands among the masterpieces of Anatolian Islamic architecture. Located in the historic city of Sivas along important trade routes connecting Persia, Central Asia, and Anatolia, the monument reflects a unique synthesis of Seljuk, Persian, and local artistic traditions. Alexandre Raymond's publication sought to document these architectural treasures in precise detail, creating an invaluable visual record that remains highly regarded by historians, architects, and collectors. The restrained palette of pale turquoise, celadon, soft grey, ivory, and muted terracotta enhances the architectural elegance of the composition. The balanced symmetry of the twin minarets and portal creates a striking decorative image that works equally well as an architectural study and as a sophisticated wall display. Collectors of Islamic art, Seljuk architecture, Ottoman history, architectural drawings, and decorative design will appreciate both the historical importance and visual appeal of this exceptional print. This is an original 1924 chromolithograph, not a reproduction. We sell the print unframed. Any framed images are shown for presentation and interior inspiration only.
