This stoneware lion is from the Africa series designed in 1964 by the renowned ceramic artist Lisa Larson (1931-2024) for the traditional Swedish factory Gustavsberg.
The playful lion Maxi, with its soft curves and friendly face, was produced in three sizes from 1968 to 1980. This particular lion, in excellent condition and with beautiful glaze toning, is the medium size. This piece has an attribution mark,
