A 1960s hanau surgical lamp with four blue glass lenses, reworked into a floor lamp and mounted on a wild heerbrugg wooden surveying tripod.
hanau was a prestigious german manufacturer recognized for its mid-century medical and dental equipment. This surgical spotlight used four blue glass lenses to provide clear, shadow-free light over the operating field. The original four-lens optical assembly and the rotating lens dial remain intact in this piece.
the conversion pairs the lamp with a tripod from wild heerbrugg, the swiss maker of precision surveying instruments, which brings a second line of provenance to the object. The tripod combines black-painted wood with aluminum inserts.
the surgical head has been refinished in a satin hammered black, and the lamp has been fully rewired for safe contemporary use. Both height and direction are fully adjustable.
this is a single, unique piece. As an original vintage object it shows signs of wear, including some minor dents to the rear of the head, which are consistent with its working history.
