A 1950s arri 2kw fresnel film spotlight, reworked into an adjustable floor lamp on a rolling tripod stand.
arri, founded in munich as arnold & richter, is one of the most significant names in the history of film and cinema technology. This spotlight was originally a 2000 watt studio projector used to light film and theatre sets. The fresnel lens at the front, which gives the light its characteristic stepped glass face, allowed the beam to be focused from spot to flood using the adjustment knob, a feature retained in this piece.
the conversion preserves the original housing, lens and body switch while adapting the lamp for contemporary domestic and commercial use. It now carries an e27 fitting suitable for any led or edison bulb, with roughly 3 m of cord and an eu plug. The head adjusts freely in any direction, and the tripod stand allows height adjustment.
this is an original vintage item and shows signs of wear and patina consistent with its working history in film production.
this is a single, unique piece.
