the model 2004 used four rotating glass lenses, one more than the 2003, to eliminate cast shadows across a larger operating field. That original four-lens optical assembly remains intact in this piece, including the central adjustment knob. At 78 cm across, the surgical head is the largest of the hanaulux range and gives the lamp a commanding presence.
the conversion keeps the surgical character while making it suitable for a domestic or commercial interior. The head has been refinished in high-gloss black, and the lamp has been fully rewired for safe contemporary use. The tripod, constructed from vintage army crutches, adds a second layer of provenance and references the same world of medical equipment from which the lamp originates.
this is a single, unique piece. The minor signs of age are consistent with its working history and confirm its authenticity.
