This is a confident and genuinely appealing piece of American regionalist landscape painting, depicting a rolling autumn harvest scene with cut buckwheat stooks arranged across a red-earthed foreground field, a sweep of green hillside beyond, and a treeline blazing in fall color under a wide blue sky. Painted in 1938 and titled "Buckwheat Harvest" by the artist on the verso, it captures a specific agricultural moment with directness and warmth.
The board measures 20 inches wide by 16 inches tall, framed overall to 22.5 inches wide by 18.5 inches tall in a period wood frame. Signed P.A. Meyer lower right on the front and signed Pauline A.
