The … Read more An exceptionally scarce attributed to Carder Steuben Art Glass iced tea set, designed by Frederick Carder during the 1930s.

The set consists of the original Shape 7218 pitcher accompanied by seven matching tumblers, executed in luminous translucent Ivory glass (which present like pale yellow) with elegant Mirror Black applied handles, one of Carder’s most sophisticated color combinations.

The gently swelling pitcher and tall, tapered tumblers embody the refined Art Deco aesthetic for which Carder Steuben became internationally renowned. The softly glowing ivory glass changes beautifully with ambient light, while the contrasting black handles provide dramatic sculptural accents.

According to the Carder Steuben Glass Association archives, this is Shape No. 7218 and was originally marketed as an Iced Tea Set, making complete surviving examples increasingly difficult to locate.

A wonderful addition to a serious Steuben collection or an elegant statement for entertaining.

Condition

Very good vintage condition overall.

The tumblers in good vintage condition with minimal wear.The pitcher has a professionally repaired chip along the underside of the base rim (see photo 7) The repair is stable and does not detract from display or use. Light surface wear consistent with age. See less
