the piece exhibits all the hallmarks of a genuine georgian period (circa 1760–1790)

north country regional antique: the "mule chest" configuration: the upper rows feature faux (dummy) drawer fronts. The top planked lid lifts open like a traditional coffer or blanket box, while only the lower drawers are fully functional.

regional craftsmanship: the iconic fluted/reeded quarter columns inset into the front corners and the mahogany cross-banding on the drawer borders are signature characteristics of high-quality furniture made in lancashire and cheshire during this era.

the piece features classic georgian brass swan-neck handles with ornate escutcheons and sits on its original shaped ogee bracket feet.

it is constructed from heavy english oak showing a deep, authentic, naturally accumulated wax patina and light wear consistent with over 200 years of age.

nice authentic condition with original marks with a couple of changes on the locks design.
