Raymond. The two plates were conceived as companion studies and illustrate ornamental inscription panels from the historic Alaeddin Mosque in Konya, one of the most important surviving monuments of Seljuk architecture in Anatolia. The first plate, titled Mosquée d'Allaédin à Konia – Motif avec Inscription (XIIIe Siècle), depicts a richly detailed architectural niche incorporating geometric stonework and Arabic inscriptions. The composition highlights the remarkable integration of calligraphy and architecture that characterizes medieval Islamic design. The second plate, Mosquée d'Allaédin à Konia – Encadrement avec Inscription (XIIIe Siècle), presents a related inscription panel framed within a striking star-shaped geometric surround. The design demonstrates the sophisticated use of geometry, symmetry, and ornament that became hallmarks of Seljuk decorative arts. Together the two prints form a highly decorative visual study of medieval Anatolian Islamic architecture. Their subtle palette of pale greens, stone tones, and architectural linework gives them a refined and contemporary appearance while preserving their historical significance. Displayed side by side, they create a harmonious composition that appeals equally to collectors of Islamic art, architectural history, Middle Eastern design, and decorative wall art. Alexandre Raymond devoted much of his career to documenting Islamic monuments throughout Turkey and the former Ottoman Empire. His luxurious folios remain among the finest published records of Islamic decorative arts produced during the early twentieth century and are increasingly sought after both for their scholarly importance and decorative appeal. This is a pair of original 1924 chromolithographs, not reproductions. The prints are sold together as a set and are offered unframed. Any framed images are shown for display inspiration only. Condition: Good antique condition with age-related toning, occasional light foxing, and minor handling wear consistent with age. Colors remain fresh and attractive. Please review the images carefully. Framing tips: These companion plates display beautifully in matching dark walnut, ebonized, or antiqued gilt frames with warm ivory museum mats. Hanging them side by side with a small gap between the frames emphasizes their architectural relationship and creates a sophisticated focal point in both contemporary and traditional interiors.
