The frame … Read more Poetic and charming, this pedimented mirror, or wedding mirror, evokes the gentle elegance of late 19th-century bourgeois interiors. The frame is adorned with gold leaf applied over a red primer, which is visible in places beneath the patina of age. The sculpted pediment, crafted from gilded stucco, features a charming central motif: a dove with outstretched wings, framed by flowers, and in the distance, a quiver filled with arrows. Cupid is never far away! The mercury glass is heavily patinated but reflects its unique light. This mirror symbolized fidelity and domestic peace, with an undeniable bohemian and poetic touch.

The mirror is antique and dates from the late 19th to early 20th century. The antique mercury glass is heavily foxed. Its oxidation spots and golden veils contribute to the charm of this beautiful antique piece. The gilding has a lovely patina, visible in the photograph.
