Two iron rings on the front would have been used to tether the animals (most likely horses) as they approached the trough. Minor losses, coupled with commensurate oxidation to the ties, enhance the appeal of the trough. The limestone is light gray with accents of ochre and darker gray and features subtle texturing of the façade. Our limestone trough would make a wonderful planter box or a basin for a wall-mounted fountain spout. It would also make an incredible interior farmhouse sink, with the horse ties functioning as towel holders. See less
