Richly printed in vibrant chromolithography, this charming … Read more An exceptional antique German three-dimensional honeycomb Valentine easel card dating to approximately 1905–1915. Richly printed in vibrant chromolithography, this charming display features a violin-playing Cupid surrounded by lush floral arrangements, doves, and layered die-cut decorations.
Designed as a freestanding easel display rather than a conventional greeting card, the piece retains its original dimensional honeycomb tissue and folding support. The layered construction creates remarkable depth and gives the Valentine the appearance of a miniature paper sculpture.
The reverse is marked "Printed in Germany," confirming its early twentieth-century origin. The interior remains unwritten, making it especially desirable to collectors.
Condition is very good for its age. The original honeycomb tissue is intact, the colors remain bright, and the easel support functions properly. There is minor tape residue on the reverse from previous mounting but no tears or significant losses.
A wonderful example of German holiday paper craftsmanship that displays beautifully on a shelf, mantel, or in a cabinet of curiosities.
