The … Read more This pretty ceramic pitcher is a very delicate piece, produced by the Pierlots for their usual and decorative purposes. The white beige glaze shows the earth in places, and underlines the sensuality and the material of the ceramic.

The ceramic is in very good condition and dates from the 60s. It is signed under the base. It can be used or decorative.

Jeanne and Norbert Pierlot are a couple of potters who have marked the history of French ceramics after the war. Pupil of Eugene Lion in Saint Amand en Puisaye, Jeanne met Norbert Pierlot. The two of them got married and acquired the Château de Ratilly, which became a Mecca for post-war French ceramics. Numerous trainees and renowned ceramists such as Georges Jouves followed in their footsteps. The Pierlots had an important and impressive production of everyday pieces, dishes and jugs. Mostly with minimalist white and beige glazes on chamotte clay, highlighting the brutality and the original character of the material with its heterogeneity.
