The top is veneered in exceptionally well figured burr walnut displaying rich swirling grain patterns and deep warm tones throughout, all highlighted by a finely shaped scalloped edge.
The table stands on an elegant carved tripod base with distinctive open lyre-form supports and shaped cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. The quality of the timber and craftsmanship is evident throughout, creating a piece that is both decorative and highly functional.
Originally intended as a lamp or occasional table, pieces such as this were designed to bring both practicality and elegance to Victorian drawing rooms. Today it would work equally well beside a sofa, as a centre lamp table or as a statement piece in a hallway or bedroom.
A particularly attractive example with exceptional burr walnut veneers and a wonderfully decorative silhouette.
Condition
Presented in good antique condition with age related wear, marks and patination commensurate with age and use. The burr walnut top has excellent colour and displays beautifully.
