In traditional Ashanti culture, stools indicated power, status and lines of succession. The flat base, the central support and the curved seat refer to the Ashanti King Stool. While most Ashanti woodworkers carved the central support into a symbol or animal, this maker was inspired by realistic warrior attributes: a barrel, a gun, a bandolier with powder flask and box. The stool is in very good condition with its authentic patina. See less
