This antique hand painted storage box is an appealing piece of American folk art, decorated on all sides with a repeating frieze of kneeling figures rendered in a naive but confident hand, framed by wave and zigzag border bands in red, gold, and green. The interior retains its original painted finish, and the whole thing has the kind of honest, well-worn surface that only comes with real age.
Measures 30.5 inches wide by 16 inches deep by 10 inches tall. The original lid is missing, with hinge indents visible on the back. Good antique condition with general paint wear and loss throughout consistent with age and use. Works well as a planter cache pot or blanket storage.
