This Mid 20th Century French student desk is made of oak panels suspended within a dramatic black-painted Z-shaped frame secured with bold brass bolts.
The desk has a unique French style and was probably (although unverifiable) designed by the French architect, Jean Prouvé, for the production of state school furniture in the mid-20th Century.
It has a height of 32 1/2 inches, and a forward length of 22 inches and wide sideways of 26 1/2 inches.
It is a free-standing unit with steel wheels set in brass fittings. Works well with any stool type that fits neatly under the top.
It has not been refurbished and shows some small staining on the desktop and paint chipping on the support structure which can be seen as authentically slightly distressed. The structure is solid and stable
This is an elegant, modern addition to any mid-20th Century furniture collection or as a stylish and functional piece of furniture in a home or office setting.
