While they could certainly work in a residential environment, they would also be great in a boutique hotel or a restaurant...or even at the alter of a church, which could very well have been their origin, probably in the 50s or 60s.
They were purchased from the estate of a prolific collector, who actively sought out interesting items until he peacefully passed away well into his nineties. So now they need a new home!

At a height of 35 inches with a diameter of 11 inches, they do make a statement. As you can see in the last photo, they each have a small hole drilled into their top, so they could be wired for electricity.
And how about this as an idea: instead of using them as candlesticks, use them as the base for a side table. The top could be wood, stone, glass, or mirror. The candlesticks would act as the legs, and could be securely attached to the top.
