Executed in … Read more This is a gorgeous Vintage Original Hand-Signed Etching by Listed American Artist Annette Robyns (1914-1994) titled "Sleeping City". Executed in a striking Mid-Century Modern abstract style, the composition features bold graphic linework and rich, dark tones that make it a wonderful example of Robyns' printmaking. Signed in pencil in the lower right and titled. Sold unframed as shown.

Robyns studied under renowned artist Fernand Léger in Paris before establishing the Robyns-Elson Gallery in Los Angeles, where she exhibited her own work alongside other modernists. We acquired a collection of her original prints and will be listing additional works over time, so please check back for future additions.

About the Artist: Annette Robyns was born in New York on February 8, 1914. Robyns (neé Annette Robyns Rabinowitz) studied at the New York School of Industrial Art and continued in Paris with Fernand Leger. In the 1940s she settled in Los Angeles and obtained her M.A. degree at California State University. After her marriage to actor Donald Elson in 1961, she established the Robyns-Elson Gallery where she sold her works as well as those of other modernists. She exhibited with the Laguna Beach and Westwood Art Associations. Mrs. Elson died in Los Angeles on January 21, 1994. (Source: Edan Hughes) See less
