Chinese, Han Dynasty Pair Terracotta / pottery Mingqi Slender Tomb Standing Figures, very slight traces of paint remains. Remarkable for the elegant, elongated proportions, serene expressions, and impressive state of preservation. Han Dynasty tombs were furnished with Mingqi, or 'spirit objects' created to accompany the deceased into the afterlife. These rare sculptures embody the refined artistic sensibilities and funerary traditions of one of Chia's most influential imperial periods. The pair comprises one figure measuring 23.25" high and one female figure measuring 23.75" high, each hand-modeled in fine terracotta.
In modern interiors these serve as compelling sculptural focal points in a variety of interiors.
