Antique 3 Three Tiered Chinese Wedding Basket made of bamboo rattan & wood. Beautiful intricate carvings, lacquered coating with patina brass or iron hardware. Estimated to late-19th century. Hand-painted auspicious motifs (like the floral and bird panels on this piece) and ornate handle carvings.
Historically used for transporting gifts or food during a wedding tea ceremony with stackable baskets and carrying handle. Representing the Trio of Blessings- Fu, Lu, and Shou meaning Happiness & Prosperity, Wealth & Fortune, and Good Health & Longevity.
Authenticated by Silk Road in 1981.
