An extraordinary Italian Florentine tantalus cocktail chest created for the iconic Bullock’s Wilshire department store. Richly decorated in deep oxblood red with elaborate gilt embellishment, this striking piece is designed to resemble a miniature chest of drawers while concealing a fully fitted bar service within which is all revealed with a turn of the of the original key!
The exterior fitted with embossed and gilt-decorated leather or a leather-clad material, beautifully accented with faux drawer fronts, brass hardware, and intricate Florentine-inspired ornamentation. The front panel folds down to create a serving surface, while the hinged top opens to reveal a fitted interior veneered in warm wood tones. Inside are three cut crystal decanters and six crystal tumblers, all neatly housed within the compartment.
Part bar accessory, part objet d’art, and part conversation piece, this unusual tantalus captures the glamour of mid-century entertaining. Whether displayed in a library, study, office, or cocktail lounge, it brings a sense of old-world sophistication and European craftsmanship to any interior.
