The characteristic soft-edged bleed of the dyed threads gives each geometric form a slightly diffused, watercolor quality that no machine process can replicate. Two mirrored medallion shapes anchor the center, with horizontal white streaks running across the field on both sides.

Handwoven from silk threads dyed using the ikat resist technique, in which yarn is bound and dyed before weaving so the pattern forms during the weaving process itself. Not printed; the pattern is woven directly into the fabric structure. Each piece carries the natural variation of hand-dyeing and hand-weaving; slight irregularities in color and repeat are intrinsic to the process. See less
