A beautifully preserved example of American Federal-period craftsmanship, this four-drawer bow front chest of drawers displays all the hallmarks of the Hepplewhite style: a gracefully curved bow front, elegantly tapered spade legs, and four graduated drawers of richly figured tiger maple.
All four drawers retain their original oval bail pulls featuring a distinctive thistle motif — a rare and desirable detail pointing to Scottish-influenced American craftsmanship. Original oval brass keyhole escutcheons with working locks are present on every drawer, a strong indicator of authenticity and completeness.
Secondary wood is pine, consistent with period American Federal construction. Drawer construction shows cut nail joinery typical of the early 19th century. Top shows a period repair consistent with age — common on antiques of this era and does not affect structural integrity or presentation.
Minor wear consistent with honest age and use. Hardware is original throughout. A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine period piece with strong provenance.
Passed down through family.
