Large Lidded Vessel by Sandra Johnstone circa 1970s.
Sandra Johnstone, who studied with Peter Voulkos at UC Berkeley in the 1950s and Paul Soldner, went on to build her own salt kiln in the early 1980s. Known for her unique addition of chunky wooden lids with leather cords attached to her pieces, this vessel beautifully showcases her signature style. Johnstone (1936-1991) was celebrated for her innovative approach to ceramics, making this piece a remarkable example of her work.
In really nice vintage condition.
