The stonework is characteristic of the Kathmandu Valley tradition of jeweled metalwork, where artisans set hundreds of individual cabochons by hand into a filigree brass framework. The large cabochons are surrounded by rings of smaller turquoise, creating a layered, mosaic-like surface with considerable visual depth.

In good vintage condition consistent with age and use. Stonework is largely intact across the densely set lid; one small turquoise filler stone is absent from the upper left quadrant. All large cabochons present. Red velvet interior in very good condition.

Measures approximately 5"W × 3.25"D × 1.5"H. See less
