Title:
Late 19th Century Solid Wood Chest of Drawers | Restored in Old Chapel Satin Walnut with Onyx Black & Gilded Frame
DESCRIPTION
A beautifully restored late nineteenth-century solid wood chest that combines authentic antique craftsmanship with refined designer finishes.
Built entirely from solid hardwood, this impressive five-drawer dresser showcases exceptional original cathedral wood grain across every drawer front, the recessed side panels, and the expansive top. Each wood surface has been carefully refinished in our signature Old Chapel Satin Walnut™, creating a rich, warm finish that enhances the natural beauty and depth only antique lumber can provide.
The architectural frame has been professionally refinished in Onyx Black™ with hand-gilded fluted column details that accentuate the dresser's strong vertical lines while maintaining its timeless proportions. The contrast between the satin walnut wood and the deep black frame creates an elevated look equally suited to traditional homes, luxury lofts, boutique interiors, or designer transitional spaces.
One of the defining features of this dresser is the original stepped construction. The upper drawer projects approximately one inch beyond the lower drawer stack, creating visual depth and an elegant furniture-maker's profile rarely found in modern reproductions.
The original batwing drawer pulls have been restored and refinished in a warm brass finish while preserving the historic character of the piece. Original keyhole escutcheons remain in place, providing authentic period detailing that reflects the dresser's late nineteenth-century heritage.
Each of the five drawers is constructed with traditional hand-cut dovetail joinery and operates on its original solid wood drawer runners. The drawers open and close smoothly while maintaining the satisfying feel of authentic antique furniture.
Every restoration decision was made to preserve the craftsmanship of the original maker while elevating the piece for today's luxury interiors. Rather than hiding its history, the restoration celebrates it.
Whether placed in a primary bedroom, guest suite, executive office, or sophisticated New York loft apartment, this heirloom-quality dresser delivers warmth, architectural character, and timeless craftsmanship that simply cannot be duplicated by contemporary furniture.
