An exquisite, highly collectible late 19th-century 7-piece antique Austrian porcelain tea set manufactured by the renowned Fischer & Mieg company at their Pirkenhammer factory in Bohemia (historically part of the Austrian Empire, now Brezová, Czech Republic).
This magnificent set showcases a striking, intricately detailed cobalt blue scroll and foliage design, beautifully accented by fine hand-painted gold gilding against a crisp white porcelain body. The handles and spouts feature elegant, classic Victorian-era styling.
About the Manufacturer: Fischer & Mieg (Pirkenhammer)
Founded in 1803, Pirkenhammer was celebrated as one of the premier producers of fine Bohemian porcelain, often considered equal or superior in quality to contemporary Limoges and Sèvres wares. Christian Fischer took over management in 1831, and in 1852, his daughter married Ludwig von Mieg, renaming the enterprise Fischer & Mieg. The factory operated under this partnership throughout the late 19th century and up until 1918.
The Backstamps: The bases feature the factory's distinct blue underglaze markings. The square-shouldered serving dish displays the classic underglaze blue beehive/shield marking along with impressed factory ciphers. The teapot, cups, and creamers feature the underglaze green/blue "AUSTRIA" mark below a stylized triangle/shield configuration.
