Vintage Jasba "Fat Lava" vase featuring orange and brown glazed ceramic with a central dark "Fat Lava" band; West German pottery from the 1960s or 70s. The vase is numbered 0201024 on the base.
"West Germany" was essentially a collective term for ceramics marketed roughly between 1950 and 1990. Well-known names include Roth, Carstens, Ruscha, Jopeko, Jasba, and Fohr, though Scheurich and Bay were arguably the biggest manufacturers.
The name Jasba is derived from the founder's initials—Jakob Schwaderlapp—combined with the first letters of the town where the factory originated: Baumbach.
