Remarkable for the elegant elongated proportions, serene expressions, and impressive state of preservation. Han Dynasty tombs were furnished with Mingqi, or 'spirit objects' created to accompany the deceased into the afterlife. These rare sculptures embody the refined artistic sensibilities and funerary traditions of one of Chia's most influential imperial periods. The pair comprises one male figure measuring 22.75" high and one female figure measuring 22' high, each hand-modeled in fine terracotta.
