The front retains a small framed paper schedule panel inscribed “Post,” “G.R.” and collection times, a detail that links the piece to the British postal tradition and suggests the reign of George V or George VI, when “G.R.” stood for Georgius Rex. The case is finely proportioned, with warm polished wood, visible grain, small door knob, side hinges and a dark interior compartment.

The form recalls the familiar British post box as reinterpreted in a refined tabletop or model scale, possibly made as a post office display piece, apprentice model, decorative novelty, counter box or private domestic letter box.
