Original hand-colored engraved map published by A.J. Johnson & Son, New York, in 1867. This highly detailed Civil War-era map illustrates the strategic region surrounding Richmond, Virginia, including the James and York Rivers, the Virginia Peninsula, and the extensive transportation network that played a critical role during the Peninsula Campaign.
Compiled from official War Department sources, the map documents roads, railroads, rivers, towns, and military positions throughout the area that served as the focal point of some of the most significant operations of the American Civil War. Richmond, then the capital of the Confederacy, is prominently shown along with surrounding counties and waterways.
