A finely decorated Japanese Meiji period bronze vase of ovoid form, presented on its original fitted carved hardwood stand. The dark patinated bronze body is decorated in the hira-zogan (flat inlay) technique with gold, silver, and red metal inlays depicting a pair of mandarin ducks on water beneath sweeping prunus branches with blossoms and buds in various stages of bloom.
The composition wraps the body with naturalistic fluency characteristic of quality Meiji export metalwork.
The reverse bears a two-character incised artist's signature, possibly reading Shugyoku — consistent with documented Meiji bronze artist conventions of the period.
The bronze surface retains its original patina in excellent condition throughout, with no repairs, restoration, or surface degradation. The original fitted hardwood stand with carved openwork base is included.
Dimensions: approximately 8.5"H x 3.5" diameter.
